Drop the hi. Some PUAs already advise to drop the ‘hi’ in favor of ’hey’. My advice is to drop the greeting formula altogether. First of all, it’s rude. Need I say more? I needn’t, but here it is:
- if you say hi and wait for an answer, she’s gonna go “Hi…? [do I know you?]“
- Dropping the “hi” forces her to think about your opener, not who you are.
“Hey guys, I need to get your opinion on something” is better, because there’s no pause after the initial greeting formula.
If you do need an introductory word, you’re better off using “Ok”, “So”, etc. instead.
